About the role:

Helping quality reach our communities

Behind every loaf, cake and confectionery item on our shelves is a team that takes pride in preparing, packing and checking every product with care.

We're looking for a Packer to join our Gadsby's Bakery team, helping prepare bakery products for dispatch while maintaining the high standards of quality, food safety and presentation our customers expect.

This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced production environment where teamwork, attention to detail and taking pride in your work make a real difference every day.

Because packing products isn't just about putting them in a box.

It's about making sure every product leaves our bakery ready to delight our customers.

Every great product deserves a great finish

Customers see fresh, high-quality bakery products ready to enjoy.

What sits behind that is careful preparation, accurate packing, thorough quality checks and colleagues who work together to ensure every product is ready for dispatch.

As a Packer, you'll help prepare bakery products, check quality and presentation, label products correctly and support the smooth running of the bakery by working safely and efficiently as part of the production team.

Delivering quality through care and teamwork

Of course, accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

Your commitment to food safety and quality will help ensure every product leaves the bakery in excellent condition.

But that's only part of the role.

You'll also work closely with colleagues, adapt to changing production priorities and help maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

You'll:

  • Pick and prepare bakery products for packing and dispatch.
  • Pack products accurately, following packing specifications and quality standards.
  • Check product size, weight and presentation before final packaging.
  • Label products correctly to maintain traceability and food safety compliance.
  • Record production information accurately to support quality processes.
  • Monitor product quality and report any defects or issues promptly.
  • Meet production targets while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
  • Rotate between packing and production tasks to support the wider team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Operate packing equipment safely and report any faults when required.

There are plenty of opportunities to make a real difference. One day you'll be carefully packing products for dispatch, the next carrying out quality checks, supporting production, helping colleagues meet deadlines or ensuring every product leaving the bakery reflects the high standards Gadsby's is known for.

Someone who takes pride in getting every detail right

This is a role where reliability, teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

You'll enjoy working in a busy production environment, following processes carefully while helping the team deliver quality products on time.

Whether you already have experience in food production or logistics, or you're looking to develop new skills, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

  • A strong commitment to food safety, hygiene and safe working practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • The ability to stay organised and work efficiently under pressure.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to support colleagues.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and follow production processes.
  • Previous experience in food production, manufacturing or logistics is beneficial, and a Level 2 Food Safety qualification is an advantage, although full training will be provided.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes ownership of their work and understands that the care taken behind the scenes helps create an excellent experience for every customer.

Benefits that are well worth packing in

Alongside the opportunity to learn new skills, work with a supportive team and help produce quality bakery products, you'll receive a benefits package that's just as rewarding:

  • 30 days' annual leave (pro rata), including bank holidays.
  • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions.
  • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

We're also proud to be an Investors in People Platinum employer, recognising our commitment to helping colleagues build rewarding careers and achieve their potential.

Ready to help deliver quality every day?

For this role, you'll usually work Sunday, Tuesday and Friday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm. Occasionally, you'll be asked to work additional shifts to cover annual leave or business needs, but we'll always provide at least four weeks notice wherever possible.

If you're excited by the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated bakery team, help produce high-quality products and play an important role in getting them safely to our customers, we'd love to hear from you.
