  • About the role:

  • More than a receptionist – be there when people need us most

What if your next role gave you the opportunity to make a genuine difference during some of life's most difficult moments?

At Lincolnshire Co-op, our Funeral Services are about more than arranging funerals. We're here to provide professional, thoughtful support to families and ensure every person in our care is treated with dignity and respect.

As a Funeral Services Receptionist, you'll be an important first point of contact for families, helping to create a welcoming and reassuring experience while supporting our Funeral Directors and wider team.

    Where every interaction matters

From welcoming families into our funeral homes to answering calls and arranging appointments, you'll help make sure everything runs smoothly from the moment someone gets in touch.

You'll also provide essential administrative support, keeping information accurate and ensuring our teams have everything they need to deliver a professional and personal service. It's a varied role where organisation, attention to detail and the ability to communicate with sensitivity are key.

    What you'll be doing

As a Funeral Services Receptionist, you'll:

    • Welcome families and visitors, providing a professional and reassuring first point of contact.
    • Handle telephone enquiries, arrange appointments and provide appropriate information.
    • Complete accurate administration and maintain confidential records.
    • Support Funeral Directors and colleagues with the smooth running of funeral arrangements.
    • Help maintain a professional and welcoming funeral home environment.

Please refer to the downloadable job description available on this page for further details about the responsibilities, experience and skills required for the role.

  • About You

  • The person we're looking for

You don't need previous experience in Funeral Services to join us – we'll provide the training, guidance and support you need to build your confidence in the role.

What matters most is the way you communicate with people. You'll be approachable, organised and able to remain calm and professional when supporting families during sensitive and emotional situations.

You'll be great at this if you:

    • Have a caring, respectful and professional approach to supporting others.
    • Communicate confidently and have a warm, approachable manner.
    • Can remain calm, composed and sensitive in challenging situations.
    • Are organised and have strong attention to detail.
    • Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team while taking responsibility for your own work.
    • Have good administrative skills and can manage different priorities.
    • Understand the importance of discretion, integrity and confidentiality.

Making a difference when it matters

For families using our Funeral Services, the experience they receive matters. Your professionalism, organisation and approach can help create a reassuring experience from their first interaction with us.

You'll help ensure families feel welcomed and supported, while providing the reliable administrative and team support that allows our Funeral Directors and colleagues to deliver the best possible service.

When applying for this position you should recognise that respectful care of the deceased forms a large part of our services, so you'll need to be comfortable in the presence of the deceased and in supporting our clients.

Alongside the opportunity to work in a role that has real purpose, you'll benefit from:

    • Up to 30 days annual leave (pro rata), including bank holidays.
    • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions.
    • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
    • Annual discretionary colleague bonuses to recognise your hard work.
    • Wellbeing support and opportunities to get involved in community initiatives.
    • Ongoing training and development to help you build a long-term career.

We're proud to be an Investors in People – Platinum employer, recognising our commitment to developing colleagues and supporting long-term careers.

    Ready to make a difference?

This is more than a reception role. It's an opportunity to be part of a team that supports families through some of life's most significant moments, providing professionalism, reassurance and care when it matters most.

If you're looking for a meaningful role where people, teamwork and purpose are at the heart of what you do, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note that the successful candidate for this role will be required to complete a DBS check before joining our team, the successful candidate will work the 25 hours over 5 days each week.
